Kari Lake (the Republican candidate who lost Arizona’s gubernatorial race) stated that she was “still in this fight” as well as indicating that she intends to challenge her loss to Katie Hobbs, Democrat.

Current state: Lake has not conceded since Tuesday night, when the Associated Press called for Hobbs to be called.

Driving the news: In a video posted on social media Thursday morning Lake mentioned problems with tabulation machines and printers at 70 of Maricopa County’s 223 voting centres.

  • Officials in Maricopa County, which is home to more than 60% of Arizona’s residents, claim that some tabulation machines failed to read ballots due to printer settings.
  • Voters could still drop their ballots into a separate drop box and have them transported to the central electoral center. There, more experienced tabulators would be able to examine them in subsequent days.
  • On Election Day, in-person voters overwhelmingly favored Republican candidates.

She’s saying, “I am busy collecting data and evidence. You can be assured that I have assembled a top-notch legal team. We are investigating every avenue possible to remedy the many wrongs done this week. Lake stated in her video that she is doing all I can to correct these wrongs.

  • Axios asked Lake’s campaign spokesperson if she planned to challenge the results.
  • Any challenge to the election results would need to be filed by the counties before the Nov. 28, deadline, in order for them to transmit the results to the Arizona secretary.

Not to be missed: The Lake campaign provided no evidence that any voter was denied the right to vote due to printer problems.

Lake also spoke These results confirm the concerns she has had over Arizona’s election system for the past two-years.

  • She has repeatedly promoted false claims that Donald Trump was defeated in 2020, which is the first time that a Republican presidential candidate lost Arizona since 1996.
  • Lake mentioned that she had filed a failed lawsuit to prohibit the use of tabulation machines in Arizona to count ballots. She also called on Hobbs who has served as secretary of state since 2019, and asked her to step aside from any duties related to the administration.

  • Hobbs said last week that she will not do so and indicated no interest.
  • Hobbs stated, “I took an office oath to uphold both the Constitution of the United States as well as the Constitution and laws in the state of Arizona.” “I have kept that oath up until January, and I will continue to do so,” Hobbs said. 2.”

Yes, but: The Maricopa County Tabulation and Elections Center was able process the ballots that were not accessible at voting centers. The secretary of states office did not participate in the run-off election in Maricopa County. It was split between the County’s recorder and Board of Supervisors.

The other side of the coin: “Governor-elect Katie Hobbs has set her sights on her transition and is building a team ready to go on Day One. In a statement to Axios, Nicole Demont, Hobbs’ campaign manager, said that Arizonans voiced their opinions on November 8th. We respect the will and the will of voters.
