Epson ColorWorks On-Demand Color Label Printer with 6-Axis Robot Delivers Print-and-Apply Label Application System

IPSi Incorporates Epson ColorWorks for Industrial Robot for one-to-one automated color labeling system

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., Nov. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — As more businesses see the need to increase packaging and labeling speed, Epson today announced its reseller partner, Integrated Productivity Systems (IPSi), has created an automated print-and-apply labeling solution. Epson ColorWorks:® IPSi, an on-demand color printer and the Epson VT6L 6-Axis robotic, is helping businesses increase efficiency and cost savings. It offers a flexible, innovative system that prints high-quality labels and applies them next-label. The solution is shown in this video.

IPSi was focused on small- and mid-sized manufacturers and distributors that do not have the skills or resources to rapidly design, develop and implement process improvement improvements in their operations. IPSi saw an opportunity for combining the ColorWorks label printer with an Epson 6-Axis Robot to bring color and automation into businesses. IPSi partnered with JM Automation Services to develop a state-of the-art robotic print-and–apply system. This allows for products to be packaged and labeled more efficiently and quickly.

“Businesses need to print high-quality color labels on demand – which is especially important for personalization, one-on-one marketing and serialization where every label needs to be different,” said Rick Schilling, president, IPSi. “The Epson ColorWorks printer can be integrated with the Epson 6-Axis robot to allow us to address some of the most difficult applications for printing and applying colors labels to all kinds of containers.

The ColorWorks CW-6500P and CW-66000P provide on-demand color labels with a width of 1-to 4-inches and 1-to 8-inches respectively. They also have a peel and present option. Applicator I/O control port is standard on these industrial strength label printers. This allows for automated label application as well as integration with other automated systems. Combining the 6-Axis robot’s end-of arm tooling (EOAT), this combination offers unlimited possibilities for businesses to print and apply color labelling to flat containers, round containers, and everything else in between.

“An on demand color label solution is so beneficial for businesses that find themselves in situations when they need a unique label to each container.” Andy ScherzCommercial Labels Senior Product Manager, Epson America, Inc. “IPSi” created a unique solution to demonstrate the power of automation in full-color printing-and-apply marking for industrial manufacturing environments.

The Epson VT6L robot has all the features you need and is easy to use. The All-in-One design saves factory space and the SlimLine structure with a small wrist pitch allows for easy access to difficult-to-reach areas in tight spaces.

“Epson robotic automation has made it easy for organizations to look for operational simplicity and flexibility, as their requirements can change rapidly,” stated Mr. Scott MarsicEpson Robots’ group product manager,Epson AllThe versatile 6-Axis -in-1 robots support a variety applications. These include label application and pick and place. Epson robots are simple to program and use and can be integrated onto warehouse floors in minutes. This helps ease some of the anxiety about automation.

A print-and-apply robot and printer solution can streamline label printing and application. It also simplifies inventory management to meet customer demand. The combined solution reduces inventory waste by being cost- and time-efficient. This solution is currently in use with IPSi customers.
