MegaTank madness! Canon lays siege with six new cartridge-less inkjet printers
Canon has increased the number of printers that use refillable ink tanks. Canon has called this “MegaTank” The cartridgeless system offers a more cost-effective printing option than traditional ink cartridges that are usually inefficient, expensive and wasteful.
The six new printers with Canon’s MegaTank Technology are distributed across its MAXIFY, PIXMA and PIXMA ranges. Canon Europe has added two printers to its MAXIFY line, the Maxify GX3050 & Maxify GX4050. The PIXMA PIXMA G4570 range is now expanded with four new printers – the Canon PIXMA G4570 and PIXMA G3570 as well as the PIXMA G2570 and PIXMA G1530. North America has not yet announced the models and they will likely have slightly different names, as is usual.
Tri-color cartridges can be expensive and inefficient. This is especially true if you have a printer that uses tri-color cartridges. These combine all three magenta cyan and yellow colors. If one of these colors runs low, the entire cartridge will need to be replaced. The popularity of ink tank printers has increased over the years. They are able to be used to refill printers with large quantities of ink.
Here’s everything you need to know about all six new MegaTank models…
Four new PIXMA models are available for students and home printing
Canon’s newest four PIXMA inkjet printers boast high quality, speed, and high yields. With their refillable ink tank, they are great for families or students who need to print less. Canon also claims they have an easier interface for printing.
Canon’s PIXMA G4570 printer is a 4-in-1 model. It can scan, copy, print and fax. Additionally, it has a 35-sheet Automatic Document feeder (ADF) that allows for quick scanning and copying of multi-page documents. This will help to improve productivity. It boasts a 1.3 inch LCD screen, a 100-sheet paper capacity, and WiFi.
The PIXMA GL3570 3-in-1 printer uses the MegaTank system. It can print, scan, and copy, and also has a 1.3-inch LCD and WiFi. You can also purchase it in black, white, or red.
The PIXMA G2570 multifunction printer is a 3-in-1 multifunction device that can print, scan and copy. It has a 1.2-inch LCD and the PIXMA G1530, which is purely for printing and does not have any scan, copy, or fax capabilities.
Canon boasts low running costs, claiming that one black ink bottle can last for 6,600 pages (or 7,600 if you use Eco mode) and 7,600 color pages (or 8,100 if you use Eco mode). All four models have a maximum speed of 11 images per min (black/white) and 6ipm for colour.
Two new MAXIFY models are available for office spaces
Canon’s MAXIFY printer line is targeted more at home offices, small businesses and people who work from home. The MAXIFY EX3050, MAXIFY EX4050 printers are claimed to have low downtime and high-volume printing. These can produce up to 14,000 pages using a set color ink bottles. Eco mode will print an incredible 21,000 pages. The printers are easy to use and low-maintenance thanks to a 350-sheet paper capacity and a user replaceable maintenance cartridge.
Canon claims that both models can print at speeds of up to 18 ipm in black and 13 ipm in color. They are both compact options to office laser printers that offer high yields. Canon emphasizes crisp, easily readable text which is ideal for printing documents in office and PDFs.
The Canon MAXIFY X3050 printer is a 3-in-1 device that can print, scan and copy as well as having a mono-square LCD screen and WiFi. The MAXIFYGX4050 is the higher-end model of the pair.
