Vertex Manufacturing Orders Two Additional Sapphire XC 3D Printers, Including the First Large-format GRCop-42 System in Velo3D’s Contract Manufacturer Network


CINCINNATI, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Velo3D, Inc. (NYSE: VLD), a leading metal additive manufacturing technology company for mission-critical parts, today announced Vertex Manufacturing (a subsidiary of PrinterPrezz) has ordered two new Sapphire XC printers to complement its existing fleet and meet the demands of its customers. Vertex will now be able to produce large-format parts using the large-format Sapphire printing machines. They have been calibrated for Inconel 718/GRCop-42 and can print parts measuring 600 mm in diameter by 550 mm height.

Vertex, a world leader in additive and secondary manufacturing (AM), is known for providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges. Vertex offers a variety of post-processing capabilities, including full 5-axis machining as well as finished-product surface treatment. Vertex currently has a fleet that can print Sapphire in Inconel718 superalloy, which is a nickel-based superalloy. This alloy provides high strength and resistance to oxidation even at low temperatures. Available at scale, Vertex also offers manufacturing using GRCop-42, a copper, chromium and niobium alloy that was developed by NASA for use in regeneratively-cooled rocket engines.
